The Russian ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov was shot and killed in the capital Ankara on Monday.
Local media reports that a gunman fired shots at Karlov at a photo exhibition where the ambassador speaking.
Russian Foriegn Ministry has confirmed that Karlov has died from his injuries.
The ambassador was several minutes into a speech at the embassy-sponsored exhibition in the capital, Ankara, when a man wearing a suit and tie shouted “Allahu Akbar” and fired at least eight shots.
Turkish news agency Anadolu says that the attacker was later “neutralized”.

The attacker smashed several of the photos hung for the exhibition. He also said, “don’t forget Allepo, don’t forget Syria.
Karlov has been Russian ambassador to Turkey since 2013.
It is now left to be seen what Russian response would be and how this might affect its relationship with Turkey, which has been complex since Turkey shot down a Russian plane about a year ago
