Police investigators have said that the man who ploughed into a Berlin Christmas market on Monday evening, killing at least 12 people and leaving dozens injured, is either a Pakistani or Afghan, who came to Germany only in February to seek asylum.
The police also said Tuesday morning: “Our investigators are of the opinion that the incident was a terror attack and that the driver of the lorry purposely ploughed into the Christmas market at Breitscheidplatz in the heart of West Berlin.
According to Tagespiegel the arrested killer-driver was known to the police as a small criminal.
