Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force on Wednesday evening raided the Abuja home of wife of Nigeria’s former president, Dame Patience Jonathan, located at Igbeti Rock Street, Maitama.

Sources tell CHECKPOINTCHARLEY that more than 20 policemen, who stormed the place in three Hilux vans and a Toyota Hiace Bus, forced themselves into the building. They searched the house and at the end went away with a brown envelope after what has been described by eye witnesses as a very brief operation.

Apart from private security guards, no other person was at the house when the policemen conducted their sting operation.

A reporter from one of the TV stations who tried to record the invasion was harassed by the policemen and her phone was illegally confiscated.

The Police is yet to issue an official statement on the raid. But it may not be unconnected with allegations of money laundering charges against the former first lady. Her N9bn bank account has already been frozen.

It is still unclear if the officers had a valid search warrant from a court of competent jurisdiction at the time of the invasion.
