Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Leo Irabor on Wednesday, confirmed the arrest of the Chairman of Mafa local government area, who allegedly harboured a top Boko Haram commander and his father at his resident in Maiduguri. Also arrested was the Vice Chairman of Kaga local government area, who allegedly has been involved in cattle rustling.
General Irabor said the Theatre Command has made several arrests in the last days and cleared a lot of villages across the north-east of Boko Haram fighters.
He also said troops gunned down today three suspected suicide bombers in Madagali town of Adamawa state.
The commander also paraded ten Boko Haram suspects, who were said to have surrendered to the Nigerian military.
Irabor said the suspects have undergone deradicalization process. Though they have committed crimes against the Nigerian state, their willingness to surrender shows that they want to become responsible members of the society again, he added.
