Manchester United news editor, Paul Bienkowski, who castigated a Nigerian job applicant, David Adediran, by saying that Nigerians are a waste of oxygen and flesh, has been fired.
This was announced by the Premier League club via its twitter handle @Mufclatestnews.
A snapshot of conversation between the editor and the Nigerian which went viral online led to his sack.
The Editor wrote: “A good writer is always prepared; I guess you are not at that level yet, typical Nigerian, making excuses proves nothing.
“You Nigerians are a waste of oxygen and flesh. Scum country. Bye moron.
“I don’t commit fraud on a daily basis like Nigerians do.”
Although Paul later apologized for his response to David, the club fired him with immediate effect as discrimination is not tolerated in the club.
The statement on @MUFClatestnews reads: “Paul has been removed from his position as editor of MUFCLatest with immediate effect. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind.
“We are proud of our global and diverse readership and writer base, which won’t change.”
David Adediran, a football lover, is a 24-year-old postgraduate, and huge fan of Manchester United since he was young. He studied Business Intelligence and Analytics at London’s Westminster University.
He later said, “I had not said anything to warrant such a response. I did not even mention my location, so he checked my profile and made that conclusion. I just thought it was unnecessary.”
Meanwhile, the sacked editor has apologised to David.
And David has accepted his apology
