US Army veteran Chuks Okebata was abducted and shot dead on Thursday in broad day light assassination by “maggots” in his village, Umuomumu, Mbieri in the Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State.
His death has sparked outrage. Family sources tell CHECKPOINTCHARLEY that he left Nigeria as a 13-year-old and “went through thick and thin” in the United States in his bid to be successful. America offered him all his country denied him. Yet, as typical of many Nigerians, his heart remained in his country that offered him nothing.
Who could a 13 year-old have wronged before he left the shores of Nigeria? He just finished his house and went to open it during Christmas. Unfortunately enemies of progress were waiting with their evil plan.
Okebata’s heartbroken sister, Lilian Ndiukwu was devastated by his untimely death at the hands of cowards, who he could have broken to pieces if not for the guns they carried.
She wrote: “What a wicked world…. who has done this to My BIG BRO? A USA veteran who just came back this Xmas after building his beautiful house(mansion)in the village not knowing that the enemies has an evil plan against him.
They abducted and shot him dead yesterday night. I Can’t believe this, can someone wake me up from this nightmare? Who did this to u Bro?😭😭😭😭😭 😭
