U.S. President Donald Trump, who relishes in attacking mainstream media as propagators of fake news, on Thursday falsely claimed that he was elected with the highest Electoral College votes since the late President Ronald Reagan.
Trump made the claim during a press conference at the White House, which was aimed to announce his new pick for labour secretary.
Checks by CHECKPOINTCHARLEY however shows that the claim is false. In fact, George Bush, Bill Clinton and immediate past president Barack Obama all were elected with higher Electoral College votes than him.
Interestingly, when a reporter told him at the press conference that his claim is false. The president merely replied, “that was what he was told” – without saying who told him. Are you kidding me?
