The senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye has accused an online news network of orchestrating a hate campaign against him with the goal of bringing him “for speaking the truth”.
The senator told CHECKPOINTCHARLEY on Monday that “no amount of blackmail, lies, intimidation, harassment, name calling will detract my attention from speaking the truth at all times”.
Mr. Melaye was reacting to a report by Saharareporters, alleging that he did not graduate from the Department of Geography of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria. He regretted that the online news platform has taken the “hate campaign to an advertisement level”.
The lawmaker stressed that he is presently a student of ABU and wondered how someone could be doing a masters degree programme without graduating from university. “I’m presently a student of ABU; pursuing my 7th degree.”
He stated that he would not be “cowed,” saying that he is waiting for the news platform to authenticate its report.
“I fear no soul, I only respect souls. Fake documents parade by Mr Sowore (Saharareporters publisher) only exhibit the desperation of his pay masters. I ready for una. God pass man,” Melaye added.
The senator also wants the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu to arrest and prosecute him if he discovered that he did not graduate from ABU.
