The home of former Gombe State governor, Danjuma Goje on Haile Selassie Street, Asoroko Abuja was on Thursday evening raided by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.
The operatives, who arrived Goje’s residence in 12 vehicles, combed the building for hours, sources say.
While, the raid lasted, at least 25 mobile police officers were stationed outside the building.
A whistle-blower had given the police useful information that triggered the raid.
A source said that the operation was executed by policemen from the Monitoring Unit of the Inspector General of Police, who were at the building to recover money believed to have been to be hidden there.
Mr. Goje, who found his way to the Senate like most former governors, is being prosecuted for alleged corruption while he was in charge in Gombe as governor.
