There will be a new edition of 2014 and 2016 Champions League finals in this year’s semi finals after Madrid city rivals Real and Atletico were drawn to face each other in a cracker of a derby. Surprise team of the year, AS Monaco will have “Old Ladies” Juventus Turin to contend with in the second semi-final.
Wales football legend, Ian Rush picked the fixtures, which at least made sure that there be no Madrid derby at this year’s final in Cardiff.
Eleven times champions, Real and free-scoring Monaco will play the first leg at home, on May 2-3.
Real Madrid defeated Atletico in the final in 2014 and 2016 but playing the second leg away could be of an advantage to their bitter rivals.
