Nigerian minister of information, Lai Mohammded on Wednesday laboured to explain why President Muhammadu Buahri was absent for the third consecutive time at the Federal Executice Council, FEC, meeting held at the Aso Villa the same day. Mr. Mohammed told State House Correspondents, after the FEC meeting, presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, that Buhari continues to take a rest from official functions on the advice of his doctors.
“The President chose today to rest, he was in his office yesterday, which you all reported.
“He is taking his doctors’ advice so that he can fully recover,” he said.
Mr. Buhari was also absent during FEC meeting last week. Then, Mr. Mohammed said the president was taking the day to rest and work from home.
His explaination is quite unconvincing as Nigerians continue to speculate on the true health condition of their president.
The question is: why would Mr. Buhari choose to prioritize meeting the Attorney-General and Group Managing Director of the NNPC yesterday over today’s FEC, quite aware that he has been absent in its meetings for sometime now?
