CHECKPOINTCHARLEY has been informed that security operatives on Friday raided the official guest house of Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu in Maitama, Abuja.
This has been confirmed by Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate, Uche Anichukwu. He said neither Ekweremadu nor any of his senior aides was informed before the search.
“It was not us,” Mr. Jimoh said. “I have asked all our departments and confirmed none of our officers was there.”
It is still unclear which security agency carried out the raid. It could also be the the Department of State Services, DSS. But the agency, without a spokesperson, could not be reached.
However, Mr. Anichukwu said the raid took place at about 8 a.m. and that it was carried out by the police.
The invasion of the guest house of the deputy Senate President comes two weeks after Mr. Ekweremadu alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, was planning to raid his house.
