The police opertaives who popped champagne and danced after arresting Nigeria’s most wanted kidnapper, Chukwudemeje George Onwuamadike (aka Evans) in his Magodo GRA mansion Lagos, did not celebrate in vain as the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has approved the special promotion for all of them who participated in the arrest.
But thirty-five operatives from the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and eleven from the Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) and one person from the IGP monitoring section, lead by ACP Abba Kyari, made sure that the man who had terrorized his fellow citizens and killed some as he ran the most sophisticated kidnapping and robbery syndicate in the country’s history, did not escape justice.
Now they have been rewarded for that. In a memo signed by the Commissioner of Police in charge of welfare, Posi Ajunwa, 29 sergeants were promoted to rank of Inspector, while three Corporals were promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
The promotions take effect from June 16, 2017.
