House Of Reps Member Wamakko Dies At 50

A member of the House of Representatives, Abdullahi Wammako has died at the age of 50. Mr. Wamakko represented Kware/Wammako federal constituency of Sokoto State.

He died at the National hospital after a brief illness, according to the spokesman of the House, Abdulrazak Namdas. He was last seen on Monday at the National Assembly.

Namdas said,  “A member from Sokoto State, Aliyu Shagari, actually broke the news to some of us today.

“We are meeting on the review of the 1999 Constitution. We have already observed a one-minute silence in his honour.

“Our hearts go out to his family and we also pray for him to have peaceful rest.”

house speaker Yakubu Dogara; and Governor of Sokoto State, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, were among mourners who flew in a chartered aircraft with Wammako’s  corpse from Abuja to Sokoto on Friday.

It is still unclear who foots the bill.

Wamakko is the second member of the National Assembly to die in three months. Isiaka Adeleke, a senator from Osun State, died in April.
