President Muhammadu Buhari’s political thorn-in-the-flesh, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has declared his candidacy for the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by inaugurating his presidential campaign on his Facebook page on Monday.
With the declaration, it is now clear that the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors Forum would not be seeking reelection as Ekiti State governor in 2018.
He had once muted that he would approach the Supreme Court to determine his eligibility to run again for the office of Ekiti State governor due to his inability to finish his first term in office, as a result of an impeachment that was later declared null and void by Nigeria’s apex court.
Based on that, Fayose argued that there was need to finish his first four years in office.
However, the outspoken governor and fierce critic of the APC government of President Buharu, had also on many occassions said he would run for president.
Only last week, he boasted that he would take over power the Buhari-led Federal Government in 2019.
