A mob has reportedly set two banks in Apapa, Lagos ablaze after a trigger-happy policeman attached to Diamond Bank on Burma Road allegedly shot dead some trailer drivers, who had parked in front of the bank.
The angry mob also set a Sterling Bank branch on Wharf Road on fire.
CHECKPOINTCHARLEY gathers that the mob was angered by the senseless killing and the bank’s refusal to hand over the culprit policeman to them. The mob therefore set the bank ablaze, destroying properties and other valuables.
Meanwhile, Policemen and operatives from the Nigerian Navy Ship BEECEOFT have been deployed to the scene to maintain law and order.
