Arsenal have reportedly offered Alexis Sanchez a weekly pay of £300,000 in a bid to keep him at the Emirates and bar clubs like Manchester City and Paris Saint that are lurking for the Chilean striker. Sanchez had rejected a £225,000-a-week. Now it is left to be seen what he would do about the new offer.
The new offer would make him the highest paid player in the Premier League.
The forward’s current contract runs out at the end of the season and he has refused to sign an extension despite Arsenal offering £225,000, plus bonuses that could see him getting £275,000 a week.
But Sanchez made it clear he wants a weekly wage of £300,000 before even considering agreeing new terms.
In any case, the 28-year-old will miss Friday night’s Premier League opener against Leicester and next weekend’s match at Stoke with an abdominal injury.
Coach Arsene Wenger seems to be hellbent in keeping his squad as he attempts again to win the Premier League. It is now over a decade since the Gunners lifted the trophy. The Arsenal manager is also confident that there has been a breakthrough in negotiations to keep Mesut Ozil at the club on a deal worth £225,000-a-week, according to the Sun.
The Frenchman also rejected a £25m bid from Chelsea for Oxlade-Chamberlain this week
