Buhari Told APC He Won’t Run In 2019 – Alhassan

Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Alhassan

Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Alhassan, who recently said she would not back President Muhammadu Buhari for reelection in 2019, has alleged that the president told the All Progressives Congress, APC, before contesting in 2015 that he would only do one tenure.

The Minister, popularly called Mama Taraba, stated this on Wednesday, saying that she intend to hold Buhari by his words that he won’t run for the presidency in 2019.

President Buhari made the promise in 2015 to APC members, Alhassan claimed, according to Reuters.

She said, “In 2014/2015 he said he was going to run for only one time to clean up the mess that the (previous) PDP government did in Nigeria. And I took him for his word that he is not contesting in 2019.”

This comes on a day that former Vice President Abubakar also complained of how the ruling party he helped come to power sidelined him after.

Atiku alleged that he had been pushed to the corner by President Buhari-led government.
