A heavily pregnant woman labourer, Gloria Nwankwo, from Ishieke, Izzi L. G. A. of Ebonyi State has been given a meager N200,000 by Ebonyi Governor, David Umahi to start any business of her choice.
The woman was among the labourers mixing concrete at the ongoing mushroom farm project in Abakaliki, when Umahi took compassion on her.
On seeing her condition, the governor ordered the expectant mother to go home, telling her that her condition was not good for such menial job.
He then made an instant donation of N200 ,000 for the woman to start any business of her choice.
CHECKPOINTCHARLEY applauds the good intention of the governor, but what kind of business could the woman start in present day Nigeria with only N200,000? The amount would not even be enough to pay for a shop.
