A Redeemed Christian Church of God pastor, Victor Kanayo, of the Fingers of God Parish, was on Sunday murdered in Offin, Igbogbo area of Ikorodu in Lagos state by suspected cultists.
His death was disclosed by the Lagos State Police Command in a statement by its spokesperson, Chike Oti.
According to him, a couple of arrests have been made and the suspects are being questioned with a view to unmask those behind the heinous crime.
Mr. Oti said the state Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, has dispatched a team of detectives to fish out those behind the killing of the pastor.
They have also been mandated to dig into the past of the victim and see if there is a nexus between his past and the fate he suffered, he added.
The issue of his past before he became a born again christian is of interest to police investigation because of a human skull tattooed on his left arm.
This has raised the suspicion that the late pastor could have belonged to one of the dreaded cult groups before he turned to christ.
