With Nigeria intensely “atikulated”, following former vice president Atiku Abubakar exiting the ruling party, APC, photographs have surfaced online showing President Muhammadu Buhari in company of All Progressives Congress, APC, national leader, Bola Tinubu flying to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire to attend the European Union –African Union, EU-AU, summit.
Also on board were governors Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom States.
Mr. Buhari is billed to participate in working sessions during summit and also meet with African heads of state and their European Union counterparts.
With Mr. Abubakar, a political heavyweight, now a threat to Buhari’s reelection ambition in 2019, this will be seen as a move by the Nigerian president to mend fences and reforge the coalition that helped him win the presidency in 2015.
After that victory, many Nigerians feel that Mr. Tinubu, who played a crucial role in the defeat of former president Goodluck Jonathan, has not been accorded the respect he deserves by the Buhari Government.
