A yet to be identified man who committed suicide at the Lagos state Magistrate court in Ogba, Lagos state on Wednesday, due to a N40, 000 debt, may have exposed Nigeria’s unjust criminal law enforcers.
Twitter user @O-Nife shared the sad story and CHECKPOINTCHARLEY understands that the man was arrested by the police after his creditor laid a complaint at the police station.
And the deceased reportedly had been in prison for six months because he failed to pay.
During his arraignment arraigned in court on Wednesday, the traumatized man, who may have failed to understand why he has been unjustly incarcerated for this long, jumped to his death after his case was heard.
Details of the story are scarce, but the question is: is it the duty of the police to ensure debt repayment?
