Buhari A Joker To Contemplate Second Term – Cardinal Okogie

Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic archdiocese of Lagos, Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, has called President Muhammadu Buhari a joker for contemplating to seek a second term in office as president.

The clergyman said this in an interview with The New Telegraph, saying the president has failed woefully in office.

The Archbishop also stated that it is an insult to Nigerians, asking president Buhari to respect himself and retire quietly.

Though Mr. Buhari has not declared publicly his intention to seek re-election, on Wednesday Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, after meeting with President, said he has informed him of starting his re-election campaign in the South West.

But Cardinal Okogie told the newspaper that the president is a joker for harbouring such ambition.

He said, “What has he done in the years he had been in the saddle? He has performed woefully; that’s the verdict of Nigerians. Let the president respect himself and retire quietly. Coming out to talk of 2019 is insulting not only to those who voted him to power but to all Nigerians. There are so many problems confronting the people and he should be thinking of what to do about them. For second term, he must be a joker. That is all I can say for now because I don’t want to dignify them with a lengthy statement. It is not worth it.”
