South-East Governors on Friday met at the Government House, Enugu, to deliberate on preparations for the burial of former Vice President, Chief Dr. Alex Ekwueme, scheduled for Friday, February 2, 2018.

The Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi told journalists after the meeting that the South East governors are “very committed” to giving the late elder statesman a befitting burial.

Mr. Umahi pointed out their presence at the gathering underscores the seriousness they attached to “this important burial of our late father”.

He stated that the only missing governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, who was represented by his deputy, Eze Madumere, was out of the south east region and therefore couldn’t attend.

According to him the governors scrutinized the budget for the burial.

He also said that the timetable was out and the details are with the Director General of the Forum.

At the meeting were Governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia); David Umahi (Ebonyi); Willie Obiano (Anambra); and the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere.
