Indications emerged Sunday night that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has ordered the arrest of Prince Kassim Afegbua, spokesman of former Military President Ibrahim Babangida over a “fake” statement he issued on Sunday purportedly on behalf of the former military, urging President Muhammau Buhari not to seek reelection in 2019 in the interest of the nation should he fail to turn himself up within 24 hours.
A police source said the IGP gave the order after Babangida denied authorizing the press statement, issuing another which he personally signed.
However, Afegbua insisted on the one he issued as the authentic.
