The Nigeria Police have said that one police officer has been killed while another is missing after a gun duel with armed militia in Yogbo community in Guma local government area of Benue state on Saturday.
A statement released by the state police command on Sunday said the armed militia attacked police officers stationed in the community and engaged them in a fierce gun battle. The Police claimed that three of the militants died during exchange of fire but said their corpse were taken away by their fleeing members.
A non-commissioned officer was killed during the gun battle while another one is yet to be seen, the statement said. Another person believed to be a resident of the community was said to have been also killed.
