Not less than eight Tiv people were reportedly killed on Tuesday by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Baaki village area of Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The herdsmen reportedly carried out serial attacks on communities in Obi Local Government Area dominated by Tiv people.

This is happening the same day President Muhammadu Buhari visited the state.

Mr. Buhari had during his visit to the state said the Federal Government would no longer tolerate any attacks by Fulani herdsmen, restating his administration’s commitment to ensure that peace and stability return to the North-Central.

A Baaki village resident, Mr. Fidelis Baaki, told the Punch that the herdsmen invaded the village at dawn, taking the villagers unawares.

He said apart from the persons that were killed, houses and other valuables including animals were destroyed.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kennedy John, however said the command was not aware of such killings.
