Benue State Police Command said on Monday that the body of one of its missing officers has been retrieved without the eyes, ears and nose.
The Police disclosed this in a press statement by its spokesman, ASP Moses Yamu, saying the command regretted the suspected murder of one the policeman.
Mr. Yamu added that the retrieved body was found brutally mutilated, with the eyes, ears and the nose removed.
Four policemen had been declared missing after the Saturday night attack on Azege-Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government area of the state by suspected herdsmen.
The herdsmen had reportedly ambushed a police patrol team at Azege-Ayilamo in Logo council area.
Two of the missing policemen were said to have been found alive on Sunday.
