The factional office of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State led by Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi was on Tuesday demolished by the Kaduna State government, less than 48 hours after it announced the suspension of the state governor, Nasir el-Rufai for six months.
The one-storey building on 11B Sambo Road, was levelled to the ground amid tight security round 5am.
Recall that on Thursday, the factional APC, ‘APC Akida’ and the ‘Restoration APC’ unveiled the office, explaining that they had to stay away from the headquarters of the party along Ali Akilu road to avoid the activities of thugs.
But within 24 hours of the unveiling of the office, it was marked with a red paint by state government officials. However, it didnot deter the “rebels” as they used the facility on Sunday to announce el-Rufai’s suspension.
In any case, the suspension was overturned by the party executives loyal to the governor, on Monday.
They said the Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi-led faction had no such powers to discipline the governor.
However, the demolition of their base of dissent maybe seen by watchers that el-Rufai and loyalsists have no stomach for opposition.
The demolition could further worsen the Kaduna State APC crisis.
