In-Fighting Erupts In APC, Tinubu Accuses Odigie-Oyegun Of Sabotage In Letter To Buhari

Tinubu-Odigie-Oyegun

As 2019 nears, infighting has erupted within the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC, as its national leader and former Lagos State Governor aBola Tinubu, has written a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, accusing the party chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun of sabotage.

Tinubu copied the said letter to the vice-president, senate president and speaker of the house of representatives and dated February 21, 2018, reports online news platform, TheCable.

Recall that Mr. Buhari had appointed Tinubu to reconcile aggrieved members of the APC. However Mr. Tinubu is now accusing Odigie-Oyegun of sabotaging his efforts and contravening the spirit of the discussions both of them had at the party secretariat when Buhari gave him the assignment.

The letter partly read, “Disappointment greeted me when I discovered that you had swiftly acted in contravention of the spirit of our discussions. Instead of being a bulwark of support as promised, you positioned yourself in active opposition to the goal of resuscitating the progressive and democratic nature of APC”.

Tinubu further accused Odigie-Oyegun of frustrating his presidential assignment in Kogi, Kaduna and Adamawa states, pointing out how Odigie-Oyegun had rushed to Kogi without due consultation with him to unilaterally inaugurate officials “parallel to the officials already heading the state chapter of the party”.

According to the former Lagos governor, Odigie-Oyegun apparently seeks to undermine his mandate “by engaging in dilatory tactics for the most part. When forced to act, you do so in an arbitrary and capricious manner.”
