A governorship aspirant in Imo State, Jerry Chukwueke, on Monday resigned from the All Progressives Congress, APC, saying the party has turned out to be a disgrace.
Mr. Chukwueke announced his resignation in Owerri, the state capital. He said a system whereby one person was governing the state was no longer acceptable.
However, the aggrieved aspirant did not reveal the new political party he would be decamping to.
He said “the party in the state has not only lost focus but has turned out to be a disgrace which bothers so much on the inability of the governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha to revive the economy and improve the wellbeing of the people of the state, as well as lack of financial probity.
“Imo state has not published its financial statement since 2015 and we have no answer to the assessment of the financial wellbeing of Imo state.”
Chukwueke added that “because of lack of financial transparency, Imo economy has nosedived.”
