The Nigeria Police has rubbished the claim by the Presidency that President Muhammadu Buhari queried the Inspector-General Ibrahim Idris, after it emerged that Mr. idris snubbed a presidential directive to relocate to Benue State due to herdsmen killings.
Police spokesperson Jimoh Moshood told THISDAY over the weekend, contrary to claims by the presidency, that “the IGP was not queried.”
“Anybody that said the IGP was queried by the president should bring the copy of the query, let us display it”
The police challenged “anyone” claiming Mr. Idris was queried by the president to produce an evidence, he added.
Recall that the presidency had twitted @NGRPresident handle on Tuesday night that Buhari asked the IGP to explain why he disobeyed his order to relocate to Benue.
“Pres @MBuhari today summoned the Inspector-General of Police to explain his flouting of the presidential order to remain in Benue State. The President has also asked for a comprehensive report on Police Operations in the affected States, after which further decisions will be made,” it tweeted.
But these claims have now been rubbished by the police.
The presidency is yet to respond to Mr. Moshood audacious statement.
