
Man City conquerors, FC Liverpool got a surmountable Champions League Semifinals hurdle when they were on Friday in Nyon Switzerland drawn to face AS Roma in a repeat of the 1984 final. The Reds won that final, played in Rome, on penalties.
Defending champions Real Madrid will slug it out with German champions, Bayern Munich in the other semifinal in what has been described as the final before the final.
Liverpool beat Premier League leaders Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate to go through, while Roma thrashed FC Barcelona 3-0 in a remarkable comeback in the second leg after losing 1-4 at Nou Camp.
The first legs will take place on April 24-25 and the second will be on May 1-2.
The 2018 final will be played in Kiev.
The Liverpool-Roma clash will see Premier League man of the moment, Mohamed Salah pitched against his former club.
“Looking forward to seeing you again,” Roma had tweeted about the Egyptian striker.
