The Court of Appeal sitting in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, ordered the freezing of the account of the Ekiti state governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.
Justice J.S. Ikeyegha, who read the ruling of the three-man panel, upheld the appeal of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, seeking the freezing of Mr Fayose’s Zenith Bank account.
The EFCC had appealed against the judgment of Justice Taiwo. O Taiwo of Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti division.
Justice Taiwo had in December 2016 ordered the EFCC to defreeze the bank accounts frozen, which were subject of investigations. The EFCC alleges that the money in the accounts is proceeds of illegal activities.
