Morocco on Wednesday became the second country after Egypt to crash out of the 2018 World Cup in Russia after Portugal beat the north African side 1-0 in their Group B match on Wednesday.
Cristiano Ronaldo delivered again when it mattered and gave the European champions the lead with a header in the fourth minute and Herve Renard’s team could not convert the many chances they created.
Ronaldo struck in the fourth minute in Moscow to surpass Hungarian legend Ferenc Puskas as Europe’s all-time leading scorer with 85 international goals.
The result meant that Morocco have to chance of qualifying from the group, turning their last match against Spain into a mere formality from their perspective.
