The FCT Commissioner of Police, Sadiq Bello have confirmed that unknown gunmen on Tuesday shot dead seven policemen who were on patrol along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Road, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Mr. Bello however said he could not provide further details of the attack.
But it is gathered that the assailants, who were in a vehicle, shot the men in a surprise drive by shooting.
The incident reportedly caused panic as motorists and residents scampered for safety due to the gunshots.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the slain cops have been evacuated from the scene in a police van.
