Evidence of financial inducement in polling unit 012 in Igbemo Ward of Irepodun-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State has been recorded as the people of Ekiti elect their governor on Saturday.
They are essentially deciding between APC candidate Kayode Fayemi and Prof. Olusola Eleka of the Peoples Democratic Party. There are, however 35 other candidates.
A party agent, working for the All Progressives Congress, was seen sharing N5,000 to voters after casting their votes, Premium Times reported.
The man, in blue dress, was seen sharing the money.
He has been identified by residents as Bello Dauda.
Mr Dauda was assisted by Olonniyi Elisha Onisola, who residents also identified as a party head. He was also at the polling unit to make sure Mr Dauda and his colleagues did what they were mandated to do.
According to the newspaper, three police officers and one NSCDC officer, who were manning the polling unit, watched as Dauda carried on with his unlawful act.
The President Muhammadu government had been accused of mapping out substantial portion of the recovered Abacha loot for the rigging of the Ekiti gubernatorial elections.
See video of the money sharing by Mr Dauda below.
