
A former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Coomassie, has died at the age of 76 after a protracted illness.
His death was confirmed by his brother, Ahmad Muntaqa Coomasie.
According to him, the former IGP died on Thursday in Katsina.
Mr Coomassie, who was a classmate of President Muhammadu Buhari at the old Katsina College, became the IGP in 1993, when he took over from Aliyu Attah.
His remains will be buried on Friday after Juma’at prayers.
