Ex-Governor Akpabio Resigns As Senate Minority Leader

akpabio

Senator Godswill Akpabio has written to the Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Emmanuel Bwacha informing him that he has resigned as the Senate minority leader.

This letter is to formally inform you of my resignation as the Senate Minority Leader with effect from August 4, 2018, Mr Akpabio wrote in the letter seen by CHECKPOINTCHARLEY.

This comes as the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State is expected to defect this week from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC.

Mr. Akpabio is believed to be coerced to join the APC and barring any last minute hitch, he will officially decamp on Wednesday in a rally in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom state.

He thanked his colleagues and the PDP for the opportunity given to him to lead the PDP caucus in the Senate for the past three years.
