Following the unconstitutional siege laid on the National Assembly on Tuesday morning by operatives of the Department of State Services and Nigeria Police, the meeting of the leadership of that institution, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, has been put off.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives,Yusuf Lasun, while briefing newsmen at the entrance of the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
The meeting was called off due to the blockade mounted at the entrance of the complex by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), he said.
“A meeting cannot be held under this kind of atmosphere.
“It is unfortunate that this is happening; because when the parliament is under siege, democracy is under siege,” Lasun added.
