Governor Okorocha’s APC Sweeps Council Polls In Imo

Goernor Rochas Okorocha’s All Progressives Congress, APC, has swept the Local Government Chairmanship elections held on Saturday in Imo State, the State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC, Elthebert Ibebuchi has annunced.

He also disclosed that the ruling party also secured 640 councilors out of the 645 wards in the election in which 13 political parties fielded candidates.

According to him, the Redemption Peoples Party, Accord Party, KOWA, the Young Progressives Party and Rebuild Nigeria Party won one councilor each respectively.

But the lections were inconclusive in Oguta, Isu, Isiala Mbano, Aboh Mbaise and Owerri North councils, he said.

Mr. Ibebuchi, who commended Okorocha for his support to the commission in carrying out the exercise, however claimed the commission provided a level playing ground for all the political parties and their candidates.

ISIEC would establish Electoral Tribunal for adjudication of disputes arising from the conduct of the council polls, he added.
