Former Senate President, David Mark, will on Tuesday officially declare to contest for the office of the president of Nigeria.
This was disclosed by Mr. James Oche, a close ally of Mr. Mark and national coordinator of Doo2Door for David Mark, who said his boss, after a nationwide consultation, has decided to join the presidential race “to salvage the entity called Nigeria from a total collapse.”
Mr Mark, a serving senator and former military governor of Niger State, who once said as minister of communications that telephone is not for the poor, will contest under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Senator Mark will join a list of over a dozen aspirants to declare under the PDP platform for presidency and he will be the fourth senator to join the race after Senate President Bukola Saraki, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Jonah Jang, who had earlier signified intention to run.
They will now battle other major PDP aspirants like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe, ex-governors Sule Lamido, and Attahiru Bafarawa for the PDP presidential ticket.
Mr. Mark, born in 1948, is from Otukpo, Benue State.
