As expected an Imo State High Court has nullified the illegal impeachment of Imo State Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere by Imo State House of Assembly.
The members had removed Mr. Madumere from offcie following a political feud with Governor Rochas Okorocha, fingered by many as behind Madumere’s impeachment.
But the court on Tuesday in Owerri held that the removal did not follow due process, ordering Madumere to continue in office as deputy governor.
The Justice Benjamin Iheaka-led court therefore declared Madumere’s impeachment as invalid and of no legal effect.
Justice Iheaka flayed the Chief Judge of the state, Paschal Nnadi and the Attorney General of the state, Militus Nlemadim for not adhering to the provisions of section 188(5) of the 1999 constitution as amended in the impeachment of Madumere on July 31, 2018.
