
A member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Ms. Funke Adedoyin, is dead.
The lawmaker, representing Irepodun Isin/ Ekiti /Oke Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara State, died in a hospital in Abuja on Friday, after she had reportedly undergone treatment abroad for cancer.
A sister to the late lawmaker, Mrs. Omolola Olobayo confirmed the death of her sister to journalists, saying she died in an Abuja hospital after returning from treatment abroad.
She said, “My sister travelled abroad for routine check up on her health situation but we believed that she will survive it but she gave up the ghost this morning (Friday)”.
Meanwhile, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, has condoled with the people and government of Kwara state over the death today of Rep. Funke Adedoyin.
In a condolence message, Dogara described the late Adedoyin as a vibrant lawmaker whose death came as a shock.
“News of the death of Hon. Princess Funke Adedoyin came as a great shock. She was a vibrant lawmaker and dedicated public servant.
“We in the House of Representatives pray that God grants her family, constituents and the people and government of Kwara state the fortitude to bear the loss,” the speaker said.
