The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the list of 24 cleared candidates for the 2019 governorship elections, most of them emerging from very controversial governorship primaries.
The list, endorsed at the meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) held on Thursday, was released in a statement by APC’s National Publicity Secretary of the party, Yekini Nabena .
“Following the Governorship Primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held across the country, the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) at its meeting held on Thursday, 4th October, 2018 ratified the reports of the various Electoral Committees and adopts the under-listed as Governorship candidates of the APC for the forthcoming 2019 general elections,” the statement said.
Conspicously missing in the list are the candidates for Imo, Adamawa and Zamfara.
The APC NWC had nullified the Imo governorship primary, which was allegedly won by Senator Hope Uzodinma.
The party also did not name candidates in some states whose primaries are yet to be settled. It is understood that new electoral panels will be set up to conduct governorship primaries in these states.
