Mr. Uche Nwosu, son-in-law of Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha has surged to a comfortable lead in the second Imo State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary held on Saturday across the 305 Wards of the state.
The first exercise had been won by Senator Hope Uzodinma, according to results declared by the Ahmed Gulak- led committee that supervised the primary.
However that outcome did not go down well with APC’s National Working Committee (NWC), leading to the cancellation of the exercise.
The second primary, supervised by a new committee, led by CIbrahim Agbabiaka, was held amid tight security at the venues of the congresses all over the state, where voting commenced as early as 10am in the morning.
Early results from the various wards showed that Mr. Nwosu, was comfortably ahead.
However, Deputy Governor Eze Madumere and Senator Hope Uzodinma reportedly boycotted the exercise, saying according to a statement by Madumere’s Chief Press Secretary, Uche Onwuchekwa, that his boss cannot be part of the exercise because it has been concluded.
