
The battle for the Imo All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket may not be over after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday released the list of governorship candidates in the State without the name of the candidate representing the ruling party.
INEC published 67 governorship candidates and their respective running mates at its office in Owerri, the state capital.
Conspicously missing is that of Mr. Hope Uzodinma, who the APC leadership said is their authentic gubernatorial candidate for Imo inseatd of Mr. Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law of incumbent governor, Rochas Okorocha, who said he won the second Imo APC governorship primary held of 6th October, which was boycotted by Uzodinma and at least nine other candidates.
Mr. Uzodinma was declared the winner of the first primary conducted on 01 October by the Ahmad Gulak led committee.
Those who made the INEC list on Friday are former governor Ikedi ohakim of the Accord Party, ex-deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha of the People’s Democratic Party, Ike Ibe of the Independent Democratic Party and Ifeanyi Araraume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Three women on the list included, Omeogu Chidiebere of the African Action Congress, Joy Udodiri of MMN and Adaku Ibe of the Democratic Peoples Party.
CHECKPOINTCHARLEY understood that there is a subsisting court order restraining INEC from publishing any name as the governorship candidate of the APC in the state.
