
Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Aminu Tambuwal is now the party’s Sokoto State gubernatorial candidate for the 2019 election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed over the weekend.
INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, who confirmed this in Abuja, said that, Manir Dan’Iya, by this substitution, is now the deputy governorship candidate of the party for Sokoto State.
PDP had ealier submitted Manir Dan’Iya’s name, who had emerged as PDP consensus guber candidate.
He was Tambuwal’s Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, and it has now become clear that he only held the PDP governorship ticket for Tambuwal in case he (Tambuwal) lost the party’s presidential ticket.

Incumbent Governor Tambuwal had lost the PDP presidential candidate to former vice president Atiku Abubakar in the party’s national convention held in Port Harcourt.
