The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the Bishop of Ahoada Anglican Diocese, Rt. Reverend Clement Ekpeye by unknown gunmen.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, said the gunmen had Tuesday night invaded the residence of the cleric before he was taken away at gunpoint.
According to him, investigation is ongoing, aimed at ensuring that Reverend Ekpeye regained freedom.
The incident, according to a source in the area, happened at about 8.45pm at the Bishop’s Court located on Odiemerenyi road in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the State.
The Clerical Synod Secretary of the Diocese of Ahoada has described Ekpeye’s abduction as shocking, appealing to the kidnappers to release him unconditionally.
