Mr. Miguel Enwerem, the first son of late former senate president and ex-governor of Imo State, Evan Enwerem, has thrown his weight behind the Imo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Emeka Ihedioha, saying he is the most competent among those jostling for the Douglas House job and who has what it takes to “drain the swamp” that will be left by Governor Rochas Okorocha’s eight years misrule.
Mr. Enwerem, who is the Chairman of Radar Malibu Entertainment Ltd, said this on Monday in an exclusive chat with CHECKPOINTCHARLEY.
He urged Imolites to vote massively for “Emeka” in 2019 so as to end their political bondage and neutralize Okorocha’s plan of turning Imo State into a family business.
The Imo State governor is supporting his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, who is the governorship candidate of the Action Allianz Party (AA).
Mr. Nwosu had defected to AA in his bid to realize his governorship ambition after he lost the Imo All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to Senator Hope Uzodinma.
That ambition had badly divided his former party, APC and its being repelled by majority of Imo people, according to opinion polls conducted by CHECKPOINTCHARLEY.
Mr. Enwerem said that the call of his generation of Imolites is to crush Governor Okorocha’s plan of imposing his son-in-law on them.
He said, “It is not enough to be making noise on Social Media that Uche Nwosu can never be governor.
“Imo people should get into action, show a collective resolve to stop this calamity that may befall us if we fail to act, by getting their PVCs ready to reclaim our dear state from Okorocha.
“There is nothing wrong for a son-in-law of a former governor to become governor. But in Okorocha’s case, he has done very badly as governor, plus the fact that Nwosu is not qualified to be governor of a state, talkless of Imo.”
Mr. Enwerem added that he is routing for Ihedioha because “apart from being the most competent, I personally know how passionate he is about Imo and his dream of taking the state to another level.”
According to him, “Emeka, in my view, is the only person that can save Imo and restore hope and dignity to our people.”
